So a bunch of us were talking on Twitter, and here is what we want to do.
A bunch of fans each record a video of themselves singing At Least It Was Here, the beloved Community theme. Then everyone provide the videos to me, and I will mix all the audio together into a single track, and then video edit the videos into a single video of epicness.
This only works if a bunch of people get involved, especially with the finale we have planned for the video, so, who all is in? Lets see some hands! Get you hands up you over there. Actually, just reply to this thread, I don't want to have to remember who raised their hands.
If we get enough people, I'll have a bit more specifics (like listen to the song on headphones and just record your vocals, minor stuff like that). Once it's all cut, I'll get it up on YouTube for all the world to see.

Heck yeah! I would be a silly person to not want you to rip the song on your fiddle and mix that in! I can get one of the other PANTSnet guys and some of his friends to do other musical tracks unless we have any other musically inclined people that want to contribute their instrumental tracks as well.

Also, you should do a couple of minute talking head video at the very end, telling people to watch the show and how to get involved and all that

Sweet, so it looks like we should have enough people by the looks of how many we have so far, so I'm going to write up some more specific details to make this as easy and as best as we can do, so stay tuned for that later this evening.

OK, so here is the low down. Basically, everyone is going to shoot their own videos, I'm going to strip the audio and video apart. Then I'll take everyone's audio and mix it together with some instrumentals, and produce a decent sounding audio track encompassing us all. Then I'm going to mix a video of us all. It'll be some short cuts to each video, some shots where I'll cut a video videos into the same scene, things like that. We have a decent idea of a good finale, and a few little awesome other tricks (like Catherine's bitching violin solo during one of the long instrumental pieces (btw hey Cathrine want to do a bitching violin solo during one of the instrumental parts?)).
To make this as good and easy as possible, there are some basic guidelines.
1) You want to make sure you are listening to the sound in headphones and only recording you vocals on the track. Don't worry, everyone will be mixed together, and I'll be adding the instrumentals in later. If you are afraid of how you sound, don't even listen to it, it won't matter in the end!
2) Disclaimer: If you don't understand any or all of this next part, don't worry, shoot it and I'll make it work. These are guidelines to make it as "perfect" as possible, but not following them will by no means degrade the quality! As much as I'd like to say let's do it in super HD, I'm not about to ask people to go get HD cameras for it. I'm not going to specify a resolution to use. Use the best one you can. Try and use 4:3 resolution (since a lot of people can't shoot in 16:9, I don't want to leave anyone out). If you shoot in 16:9, know that I will either be cropping or adding bars to change it to 4:3, depending on what will work best. YouTube prefers H264 codecs at 24 fps, so those would be the best to avoid problems with transcoding.
3) There are many ways we will be able to get the files to me. I have an FTP server I can setup accounts on, dropbox, or any other way, hell, I will setup a remote session with you and download it directly if that's what it takes, we can work that out as we go.
4) Once you give me the files, you give us permission to use them for this video in any way the few of us pulling this together see, and all final cut approvals belong to us. We promise we aren't going to make anyone look bad, or anything like that, this is a fan project, and we want it to be good, we just can't have a whole bunch of people all trying to tweak it. Contributors will, however, get a special sneak preview of it before we drop it to everyone else. It's only fair!
5) Do whatever you want in your video, want to dance around, giver, want to make it seem like your in a recording studio, rock out, want to green screen yourself on the moon beside a Greendale flag, right on, the sky is the limit, use your imagininations.
6) I don't have a timeframe yet. We probably don't want to take too long, it will take me about a few days of editing, so we'll set a deadline for submission in the coming days.
That's about all I can think of for right now. Feel free to ask any questions, we'll try and answer as best we can, but for the most part, it just comes from your imagination. Remember, the goal is to spread awareness and show our love for Community, so just pour that gas into your creative engine and fire it up.

I'll record something tomorrow. Glad to hear that I shouldn't worry about my singing ability. I'm the worst.

I'm in, too. So can we accompany ourselves with an instrument? Because I may add some piano if we can.

If you can do them in separate tracks it would be easier for me on the mixing end, but if that's too much difficult, as long as it's just your vocals and the piano, I can work with that

Another thought I had last night after I went to bed, if you want to do your audio track and video separately that is also acceptable.
